The visit to the Wolfsonian was very interesting. It's a very modern museum which is fitting for it's content. Right away after meeting with a couple of classmates including Estefania, we went to the fifth floor. Right away the elevator could be argued a piece of art. Very consistent with the rest of the building. Once we got off the elevator and entered the collection, it was evident there were a lot of different influences, different media and styles. From traditional Oil on canvas paintings, to posters, furniture, sculptures or household objects. Very rich environment, nicely curated and presented.
I Personally found joy in looking at the more illustrative work we had access to during our visit. The concept of a design exhibition is a bit alien to me, since where I come from, design, although very important, is a much younger art/science/craft. Being able to re-contextualize these pieces, that I would normally consider only as reference of a certain technical reference, were up there as art, and as part of history, which made me realize Design has had a lot of influence during it's time in the world of communication. Overall the experience was very positive, and some of those posters put me to shame.
